about

This song is about how you don't have to hit rock bottom in order to have an awakening of the spirit, and that it's ok to celebrate your accomplishments without denigrating yourself for where you came from.

The shedding of tears isn't always a sad or a happy thing, but any emotion can bring this about. So, to shed tears over making changes is completely natural, and cleansing in many ways.

lyrics

The earth did not open up
The sky did not turn black
The integrity of the pillars of hell still remains intact
A choir of angels did not sing some familiar gospel song
I just shed a couple tears and moved along

I didn't turn to a pillar of salt
Nor did I burst into flame
In the roll call for the train to hell I did not hear my name
Heaven wasn’t quite ready, Hell said I don’t belong
I just shed a couple tears and moved along

I moved along from presumption
I moved along from regret
I moved along from the fear of judgement from everyone I’ve ever met
If you're looking for the man I used to be, that man is gone
He shed a couple of tears and moved on

A spirit did not visit me
Begging me to change my ways
And a man with horns in red pajamas
Didn’t warn me to behave
I was sitting in my living room when I decided I was done
And I shed a couple of tears and moved on
